About Us

From beginners to professionals, we connect artists through education, exhibition, and community.

Who We Are

The Spokane Watercolor Society (SWS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the craft of watermedia. We are a community of volunteers who welcome water media artists of all skill levels to participate with us.

While our roots are in Spokane, our membership extends across the region, and the country, united by a passion for transparent watercolor, gouache and acrylics.

Our Mission

The mission of the Spokane Watercolor Society is to foster the development and growth of artists in the medium of watercolor and to promote watercolor art.

What We Do

During the school year, we gather online or in person to educate, inspire and encourage each other in artistic practices with educational programs. We share experiences and techniques, experiment with new products and view each other’s work.

Building friendships and collaboration around our shared passion for water media of all kinds, we work together to annually host a national juried show and a member show. The juried show is accompanied by a workshop led by a nationally known instructor.

Members work together to plan and carry out tasks that keep our society moving forward.
